Battery Life - Tweaks

Post by chr_anast » Thu Aug 13, 2020 4:25 pm

First of all, a big thank you to all those that have put in time and effort into the WoA project. The ability to run full W10 on a mobile device is truly fascinating.
I have recently delved into the WoA world with my old Lumia 950xl (after replacing it as a daily driver with a new S20+) and I am rather excited at the possibilities this brings. I’ve used my Lumia with WoA for calls, used it for light work, and, overall, I’ve enjoyed it a lot – albeit for the minimum time I’ve been able to use it.

My key issue with WoA on my 950xl is battery consumption.
I have done the steps mentioned in topics such as this (disable Windows Defender)
I have also disabled search indexing and I am using battery saver mode all the time.
Still standby time is very bad, nothing like what is mentioned in posts like this (20 hrs standby)
it’s more like the 7-8 hrs standby, as per the “prior” state mentioned in the post.
Are there any other fixes / tweaks I am missing, that I could apply so as to get a more decent battery life?

I'm making my first post here firing from the hip, I see that your objective is that your Lumia 950 xl works as a secondary driver that runs windows, so what I am going to share may not even apply. It seems there are different objectives for some for running windows 10 on arm. One example different objective is: a stripped down version that will run quick and lack certain features like the native dialer, so that the device can be used with a sip server which provides the calling features through an executable app. (Example: linphone or bria). I know you have seen his work but, if you like, follow gilius memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=414, to see his stripped down "WOA light" version see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=130#p557. Oh and if you need a sip server with robust and extensible features reply to me. thanks and enjoy.
